 October 27, 2003: the White House's official transcript records the following statement by the President: It's in the interest of long-term peace in the world that we work for a free and secure and peaceful Iraq. A free and secure Iraq in the midst of the Middle East will have enormous historical impact.Which is fine. But that's not what he actually said. (White House video is here, if you don't believe it.) "Eloquent" is probably not the word I would have chosen.
