And so I enter the ranks of bloggers worldwide.

The old essay is gone but not forgotten. I’m still scared out of my mind, but it’s now been more than a month since the bar exam, and I’m kind of settling into a routine. Almost. Freedom is a difficult thing to deal with, as I’m coming to realize, and a part of me longs for the structured, comfortable life of the student once more.

Ah, the hell with it. Real life is so much more enjoyable.

So, the update: just got back (well, a few days ago) from vacation at Holden Beach, NC with Valerie and my family. A lot of driving — I got to thinking about it today, and I’d bet we were on the road at least half as long as we were actually at the house. There’s something wrong with that, I think…

Updates on the wedding plans can (hopefully) soon be found here — there’s some stuff there now, including some helpful links, but despite all the work Val and I have been doing over the last two months, there’s really not much more to report right now (except that apparently, all of the bridesmaid dresses fit, which is good news. Almost unbelievable, but good news.) And for those so inclined who haven’t yet figured out what that link on the front page is, my seven-page proposal of marriage to Valerie is available for public perusal here.

Had a very interesting evening at Fado’s up at Easton last week with Sean McKeever and Dave Potter of SAVANT. Dave’s a very cool guy; we hashed some stuff out about the future of the magazine, and I can honestly say that I’m thrilled to be a part of what’s going on over there. This is kind of an interesting departure from the work I’ve been doing for the last couple of years, and gives me a chance to flex those old creative muscles in ways I don’t normally get the chance to. Interesting, and fun. Have a look.

Finally starting to settle in just how much I’m gonna miss my boys, though. With all of you scattered to the four winds, this city doesn’t quite seem the same. Everyone’s getting married, settling down, finding more permanent places to live… I’m trying to catch up, folks, I really am. But when have you ever known me to do anything on time?

Enough for now. Off to finish reading Fight Club and catch up on my sleep.
