Yes, you’re looking at a CD of the 1965 RCA Victor Christmas sampler LP entitled THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS — alternately known in the Dahlberg household as THE GREATEST CHRISTMAS ALBUM EVER ASSEMBLED IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND, THE END, PASS THE EGGNOG.
And only four years after I first started looking, to boot. A present from Santa Claus that arrived at Thanksgiving, via my dad, who is made of Win. Merry Christmas a little early!

Holy cow, how did I miss THIS?
Presented four days before the Ohio State Buckeyes take on the Michigan Wolverines at Ann Arbor, HBO Sports will present its first college football documentary, Michigan vs. Ohio State: The Rivalry, which debuts Tuesday, November 13 (10:30-11:30 PM ET/PT), exclusively on HBO.
One of the greatest rivalries in all of sports–Michigan vs. Ohio State in college football–is examined in this documentary. Featuring interviews with well-known grads, players and coaches (including the late Bo Schembechler, in his final interview) along with rare footage, the film chronicles every aspect of this amazing annual clash that began 110 years ago.
Which was last night.
It’s on HBO all this week, apparently, so SET YOUR TIVOS! (Thanks to Chris DeVille for reminding me…)
Also, despite last week’s… little setback… not to mention this minor problem… this is a HUGE game. Given the late-season loss to Illinois, probably the biggest game the Bucks will play all year. And you know how much I love Michigan Week.

So I suppose working mothers do a lot of weird things to satisfy that nagging part of our brains that keeps questioning whether or not what we’re doing for a living is at the expense of our kids or to their benefit. This time it looks like the dilemma has manifested in sugar form.

Two cakes: one chocolate and one yellow with chocolate filling and dyed green icing. One Cocoa Krispies Volcano with White Chocolate Marshmallow Lava (that was my favorite part)
He’s already asked if we can have another prehistoric forest cake for the OSU/Michigan Party. Luckily I’m not feeling THAT guilty.

I was re-reading something this morning and remembered that I had both read about and seen that the building which formerly housed Columbus rock club Little Brother’s was due to get a new tenant:
(I actually saw this a few weeks back when Casey and I headed out to the Surly Girl and Skully’s after the Arcade Fire show, but it didn’t register then for some reason. Chalk it up to the hour.)
Anyway, so, “Liquid”. Sheesh. And then I remembered that I wrote this back in April:
If a concert hall that doesn’t even operate as a proper bar most days of the week won’t pony up the rent, the thinking probably goes, then there’s bound to be some latte-bar entrepreneur with dreams of IPOing who’ll gladly sign up, until the money inevitably runs out there, too.
I hate being right.

A lousy picture, but an amazing show (even though I really do hate “Spiders (Kidsmoke)”, the song they used to end the first encore). Not as marvelous an experience as when we saw them in 2005 — no cover of Randy Newman’s “Political Science” this time around — but how can you argue with what was essentially a two-hour-ten-minute set?
(Well, okay, I can argue, because I am snooty and this is the Internets. Nice attention to SKY BLUE SKY, but no “Either Way“, probably the best song on the album, or natural closer “What Light“? Really? No “Misunderstood“? Okay, okay, it’s overplayed, they have this huge back catalogue of great music that never winds up on the set list, I get it. But that’s why the reliance on the snooze-inducing noodling jamfest of “Spiders” sticks in my craw — seems like a waste of precious show time at the expense of better material.)
Andrew Bird opened for them. Although Casey had burned the disc for me a few weeks back, I hadn’t given it a listen and consequently knew next to nothing about the guy. After being almost moved to tears at one point during his set (!), rest assured I’ll be remedying that this week.
